Despite its excellent success rate, gastric bypass surgery sometimes requires revision in certain patients. Often, this is the result of the stomach pouch stretching over time, allowing the patient to consume greater amounts of food.
You may be experiencing failed gastric bypass if your resulting weight loss is less than 50% of your excess body weight, if you have regained a significant amount of weight after the initial loss or if a weight-related medical condition such as diabetes, high blood pressure or sleep apnea has developed or returned.
